Our Mission

The mission of Pune Bus Guide is to make public transport related information easily accessible and available to common citizens of Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad and surrounding areas.This information is not available easily at one place today, which causes confusion in the mind of passengers and they opt either for their own vehicles or other modes of transports such as auto rickshwa, six-seater etc.We strongly believe that if this gap of information is filled, many people who are currently using private modes of transport will go for public transport.More people using public transport would create lesser pollution and make our roads congestion-free.

Who Are We?

Pune Bus Guide is a joint initiative by Janwani - a Pune based NGO and New Indictrans Technologies - a software startup.

Participation of Janwani

Janwani is an initiative of the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA), it was formed in 2006 to advocate and promote equitable and sustainable development in the city beneficial to the citizens. This is turn stems from the fact that the city will not be an attractive destination unless it is a truly "livable city".

Participation of Indictrans

New Indictrans is a Pune based start-up in e-governance and GIS(Geographical Information Systems).It was formed in 2009 with mission to develop "Community Computing" solutions to take benefits of information technology to masses by building self sustaining models.

Participation of PMPML

Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) which operates bus service in Pune city, Pimpri Chinchwad city and surrounding areas, has actively participated in this project.All information about routes, trips and time table provided on this site has been provided by PMPML and digitized by our team.

Individual Contributors

Vijay Patil : He deserves a special mention. Vijay started a voluntary project of collecting PMPML bus schedule on his own in 2008.He went through painful process of following up with people at various levels to collect and compile complete timetable of PMPML.In the process, he interacted with PMPML staff and devised a schedule management system which considering pain points of a public transport agency.Later, he converted this system into a schedule management and publishing tool called "OnTime" at Indictrans. This tool has been exclusively used for entering time table information in this project.
